Storehouse remains top visitor attraction

The Guinness Storehouse celebrated another record number of visitors for 2014 as 1,269,371 guests passed through its doors over the last 12 months, breaking the previously-held record of 1,156,985 in 2013.

The 9.7% increase on the 2013 visitor numbers sees the Home of Guinness retaining its position as Ireland’s Number One fee-paying international visitor attraction.

The top-ranking nationalities were from the US, UK, Ireland and France with August representing the busiest month of the year welcoming 148,683 visitors through the Guinness gates. 93% of all visitors to the Guinness Storehouse in 2014 were from overseas with the US (up 14% year-on-year), the UK (up 25% year-on-year), Italy (up 14% year-on-year) and Canada (up 27% year-on-year) representing the biggest growth markets compared to 2013.

“Attractions like the Guinness Storehouse are playing an important part in Irish Tourism providing an exciting blend of entertainment, innovation and good value-for-money to international and Irish visitors alike,” commented Alex Connolly, Head of Communications and spokesperson for Fáilte Ireland, “As we look at the year ahead, there’s an appetite across the globe for authentic Irish experiences and we hope that the Guinness Storehouse and Irish tourism in general continue to perform to these levels.”
