O’Casey’s in The Hague – Global Pub of Year

Representatives from the Irish hospitality sector worldwide were out in force recently to celebrate the annual Irish Hospitality Global Awards in the Round Room at the Mansion House in Dublin.

O’Casey’s Irish Pub in The Hague won the overall Global Pub of the Year 2019 title at this year’s Irish Hospitality Global Awards.

Doheny & Nesbitt won the Best Irish Pub Award.

After a lengthy search which included an online public voting campaign to determine this year’s shortlist, the pubs at the top of their game both in Ireland and abroad were crowned winners in 10 awards categories including Best Chef, Best Bar Person, Best Entertainment Experience and Overall Pub of the Year.

Winners in Ireland included Toners Pub on Baggott Street for Best Whiskey Experience, Café en Seine for Best Marketing Campaign, John Mikes Bar in Limerick for Best Community Pub and Hayes Bar in Glandore for Best Food Experience.

Further afield, pubs from around the world picked up awards on the night including Fleetenkieker Irish Pub in Hamburg for Best Sports Experience, The Irish Village Dubai for Best Entertainment Experience and Seumus’ Irish Bar in New Zealand for Best Community Pub.

The 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Irish Whiskey entrepreneur John Teeling for his outstanding contribution to the drinks and hospitality sector throughout his career.

The awards ceremony, now in its ninth year, was hosted by broadcaster and comedian Oliver Callan and featured a rousing performance from the Dublin Gospel Choir.
