A sweet toast to 50 years of VFI
To mark 50 years of the Vintners’ Federation of Ireland, Guinness has created miniature versions of six iconic Irish pubs, and teamed up with award winning Irish actress Nicola Coughlan to wish the VFI a happy anniversary.
The celebration featured cake artistry by Corinna Maguire and live music from Pillow Queens. Images of the six “cake pubs,” including Glyde Inn in Louth, Reardens in Cork, The Porter House in Mayo, Treacy’s in Laois, The Cloch Ban in Wexford, and Mother Mac’s in Limerick, will be showcased in digital and social advertising nationwide.
This celebration marks the ongoing collaboration between the VFI and Guinness, emphasising their shared mission to celebrate the unique creativity, culture, and atmosphere of Irish pubs, as highlighted by the recent launch of Guinness Live & Rising.
Nicola Coughlan said: “Some of my favourite memories from home are spending time in a proper Irish pub, getting together with old friends and making new memories, there’s nothing like it. So let’s raise a pint (preferably of Guinness but the cake deserves an honourable mention) to the Vintners’ Federation of Ireland!”
John Clendennen, president, VFI, said: “What a great surprise from the team at Guinness! As far as we’re concerned, there’s no better way to celebrate this special occasion than to throw a big party with our friends in the pub. For 50 years we have worked on behalf of our members across Ireland to promote and protect their interests, and to keep our beloved Irish pubs thriving and vibrant through good times and bad. The big 5-0 is a huge landmark for us so we’re thrilled to be celebrated in this way!”
Ross Bissett, on trade commercial director, Diageo, said: “We’re looking forward to making some well-deserved noise for the VFI with this unique nationwide campaign. Guinness and VFI share so much in common, in particular our love of the great Irish pub. With the benefit of our 264 years of experience, we can safely say to our younger friend, your best years are ahead of you.”
