Dee Laffan and Oisin Davis celebrate the pairing of Irish food and drinks in their recently released podcast, Beár Bia (Food Bar).

Their mission is simple: local foods taste best with local drinks, and Ireland is no exception.

In the latest episode, they spotlight the newly reopened Coppinger, formerly Coppinger Row, and its co-owner Marc Bereen and executive chef Daniel Hannigan.

Originally opened in 2009, Coppinger Row became a hit with its Mediterranean-inspired menu and a focus on Irish spirits.

Despite closing in 2021, the restaurant reopened in July 2023, with expanded floor space, an updated interior, and a renewed focus on local Irish ingredients.

During the episode, Laffan and Davis featured two pairings with Redbreast 12-year-old whiskey.

The first was an Andarl pork chop with nduja honey, cabbage, apple, and hazelnut, perfectly complemented by a Rooibos cocktail.

The second was a whiskey and apple cruller with vanilla ice cream, served with an optional Redbreast 12 for €10, showcasing how easily Irish whiskey can be integrated into a restaurant’s offerings.

Beár Bia can be accessed on Spotify, Apple or wherever you get your podcasts.
