Latin Quarter Presents ‘Gin Fest’
In the past year bars across the country have seen a surge in the popularity and demand for gin, so Galway city’s Latin Quarter has created a festival that brings people together – from the master distillers to those who enjoy drinking gin – when it plays host to ‘Gin Fest’, a four-day celebration of all things gin-related from Thursday 30th March – Sunday 2nd April.
A range of events takes place in bars throughout the Latin Quarter including master classes and tastings, Gin Afternoon Tea, gin trails, food & gin pairings, gin cocktails & competitions, blind tastings, new gin launches and gin experientials alongside ‘Gins & Reels Music Sessions’ and a range of free workshops.
The focus of the Festival is to encourage people to try the variety of gin and tonic brands now available on the market, from Irish to international creations. There’s also a focus on education for both trade and public: how gin is made, learning about the perfect serve when choosing garnishes for various types of gin and how tonics enhance flavour.
It’s the first year of the Festival in The Latin Quarter and it’s set to become an annual event thanks to the support of festival partners Diageo, Edward Dillon, Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard and Richmond Marketing.
