Revenue seizes €7.5m in contraband

Revenue officers recently seized more than €7.5 million in contraband, including illicit cigarettes, drugs, and counterfeit goods, as part of multiple operations across Ireland

 Investigations are ongoing as Revenue continues its efforts to target illegal cigarettes and other contraband in the shadow economy

In a series of operations across Dublin, the Midlands, Rosslare Europort, and Waterford, Revenue officers seized contraband valued at nearly €7.5 million.

Among the items seized were more than 7.6 million illicit cigarettes, worth more than €6.9 million, and various drugs, including almost three kilogrames of cocaine, 14kg of herbal cannabis, and cannabis resin.

Additional items included counterfeit goods, alcohol, and tobacco products.

These operations, conducted with the assistance of detector dogs and intelligence-led profiling, also led to the arrest of three passengers at Dublin Airport for drug-related offences.

Investigations are ongoing as Revenue continues its efforts to target illegal cigarettes and other contraband in the shadow economy.
