Robert J. Gallo passes away

Gallo worked with the Wine Institute and the California Association of Winegrape Growers to draft and implement the Code of Sustainable Wine Growing Practices

Robert J. (Bob) Gallo has sadly passed away on Saturday, 22 June, 2024.

According to a statement from the Gallo family, Bob was a visionary leader who planned, built, and established the Gallo Glass Company, which began operations in 1958. 

With a strong interest in conservation issues, Bob was at the forefront of Gallo’s commitment to sustainable agriculture. Gallo worked with the Wine Institute and the California Association of Winegrape Growers to draft and implement the Code of Sustainable Wine Growing Practices.

The Gallo family also said he was instrumental in his family, acquiring the Louis M. Martini Winery, with its Monte Rosso Vineyard and MacMurray Ranch. Bob lived to serve not only Gallo but also local causes. He served for two years in the United States Navy, he spent his entire life in the family business.
